How a Family-Owned Bicycle Shop Became the Hub of a Thriving Cycling Community

Giant Mudgee has become a thriving hub for cyclists over the past two decades. This family-owned bicycle shop, synonymous with quality and community, is run by locals Joel and Nikki Burke who have called Mudgee home for nearly 20 years. The family includes two sons, Lachlan (21) and Fraser (18), who are integral to the business, and their charming mascot, Lenny the pug.

The inspiration to start their store arose from a local passion for biking and an evident gap in the market. As avid cyclists and parents of competitive bikers, the couple saw the need for a dedicated bicycle shop in Mudgee.

Determined to fill this gap, they launched Ride Mudgee in February 2016. Their first shop on Market Street  quickly gained popularity, and it’s growth and success gave them the opportunity to become a Giant Store and move to a larger location on Sydney Road which is where they’re located as Giant Mudgee today.

Renowned for its wide range of products, the shop caters to all types of cyclists, from competitive racers to families enjoying weekend rides.

With over 200 bikes in-store and access to a vast selection from Giant Bicycles Australia you’ll find a bike for all ages, sizes and purposes. Additionally, they offer a variety of accessories and apparel from top brands like Fox, Giro, Lazer, Bell, Shimano, SRAM, Quadlock and Lezyne as well as scooters, BMX bikes, and related accessories, making it a one-stop-shop for all cycling needs. Their fully equipped workshop can service and repair all makes and models of bikes.

Importantly Giant Mudgee isn’t a franchise, it’s a family owned and operated business run by long term locals who love supporting the local community through sponsorships and donations as well as participating in local rides and events promoting safe and healthy lifestyles.
