With over 160 years of history, Craigmoor Wines invites you to explore Mudgee’s heritage through exceptional wines and a truly iconic cellar door.

Nestled along Pipeclay Creek and surrounded by the beauty of Mudgee’s landscape, Craigmoor Wines stands as a testament to the region’s rich winemaking heritage. Established in 1858, Craigmoor is Mudgee’s oldest winery and vineyard, proudly embodying over 160 years of tradition, history, and quality wine production. Owned by the Oatley family for the past two decades, this iconic cellar door continues to thrive under the careful stewardship of Mudgee wine legends.

Only a short five-minute drive from Mudgee’s town centre, Craigmoor’s historic grounds offer more than just exceptional wines. Visitors can stroll through picnic areas surrounding the Craigmoor Cricket Oval, tour the heritage listed cellar, and explore the wine museum - all while taking in the stunning surroundings of old vines and towering gum trees. The experience is not only a journey into the heart of winemaking but also a connection to Mudgee’s past, where the first local wines were crafted over 160 years ago.

Craigmoor’s team is at the heart of its welcoming atmosphere. Led by Cellar Door Manager Aaron, the small, family-oriented team includes long-time members Pandora and David, each bringing more than a decade of expertise to the cellar door. With deep roots in both winemaking and cellar door hospitality, this knowledgeable team enhances every visitor’s experience, guiding them through the unique flavours and stories behind each bottle. Their passion for the region and dedication to quality shine through in every interaction.

Renowned for its premium wines, Craigmoor’s selection includes celebrated Chardonnay and Shiraz wines, such as the popular “One Day on the Pitch” Shiraz, named in honour of the estate’s cricket grounds. The “Montrose Black” Shiraz, a beloved local favourite, continues to draw attention and is regarded as a wine that helped put Mudgee on the map. The Footnote series, with each bottle telling a unique story of Craigmoor’s history, offers a special way to bring a piece of the winery’s legacy home.

The cellar door experience at Craigmoor is designed to be both intimate and inviting. Guests can enjoy a seated 50-minute tasting session, sampling six premium Mudgee wines for just $10 per person, or simply relax with a glass of wine on the picturesque grounds. Within the original 1858 cellar, visitors can connect with the roots of Mudgee’s wine industry and explore relics left behind by generations of winemakers, each item adding to the rich tapestry of Craigmoor’s history.

Looking ahead, Craigmoor’s vision is to continue producing exceptional Mudgee wines that showcase the region’s beauty and craftsmanship. Their mission is to preserve the legacy of Mudgee’s historic wine culture and to inspire future generations to embrace and celebrate this unique part of Australia’s winemaking heritage.
