Eat, drink, stay at Mudgee’s boutique corner pub and accommodation
Beloved by locals and visitors alike, the Paragon Hotel is one of Mudgee’s most popular pubs, famous for its delicious food, ice cold beer, local wine list and cocktails, and cosy “country pub” atmosphere.
Built in 1857, the Paragon was one of Mudgee’s earliest buildings. Run by publican Issac McKenna, the hotel served various purposes (meeting room, courthouse, accommodation - you name it!) before it became the Paragon Hotel in 1866.
Today, the hotel, located on the corner of Perry and Gladstone streets, is under new management, heralding a new era for the iconic Mudgee venue.
Experienced publican Scott Still and Mudgee local Steve Harding officially took over the Paragon in July 2024, along with its luxury accommodation located next door, the McKenna Terraces. The pair have plans to expand on the pub’s solid foundation, built around its outstanding food and “country pub” offering.
The Paragon Hotel is definitely home to Mudgee’s best pub food. The kitchen team is well-known for rolling out mouth-watering classic pub favourites, burgers, pizzas, steaks, share plates and more, along with weekly specials, built around fresh local produce and ingredients.
Their lunch menu offers a hearty pub feed for workers and visitors (we love the Bushman’s bangers!) and the daily special offers (buy two, get one lamb cutlet for free on Monday, two-for-one schnitzel on Tuesday, $25 sticky pork ribs on Wednesday, and $30 T-bone on Thursday) ensures there’s always a reason to visit.
The weekly members’ draw, held every Thursday night, offers a cash jackpot for regular Paragon Hotel punters (it’s free to join!), along with meat tray raffles, raising funds for local community and sporting organisations.
On the weekend, the Paragon is the perfect place to kick-off your night out - think delicious cocktails, meals to share and plenty of country hospitality.
If you’re looking for a place to stay amid all the action, the McKenna Terraces is a must-book. These lovingly renovated terrace houses combine luxury with convenience, offering a lush home-away-from-home stay in the heart of the Mudgee region.
Each of the five boutique terraces has been thoughtfully renovated, paying homage to the buildings’ heritage roots, while embracing modern luxury - think rich floor boards, stone benchtops, dark oak cabinetry, linen finishes and a lush bathroom that you’ll never want to leave.
